Here's how we'll get you there...
The SQL Superhero Program
This is a three-step program, aimed at motivated people who are looking to UPGRADE their career to one where a high level of expertise in SQL is required.
For more details on who would benefit from this program, see the section entitled 'Who are these programs aimed at?' in the FAQs below.
Step 1 is SQL - the coding & programming language.
You will start from the very basic SELECT [fields] FROM [tables], but then dive deeply into the WHERE clause, date and time functions, aggregation and grouping, string handling including NULLs, numeric calculations, the CASE statement all the way up to some advanced programming using window functions, CTEs, temp tables, cross apply, views and plenty more.
It's a fully comprehensive program to teach you EVERYTHING you could ever need to know when using SQL and working with data.
Step 2 - Using LinkedIn to find job opportunities
We'll begin by planning, designing and building out your LinkedIn Profile, then we'll look at how to expand and grow your personal network. You're looking to connect with the people who hold the keys to the doors of the career you want, so that's recruiters and employers mainly.
You'll also learn how posting daily content can be really effective in building your authority as someone with a solid knowledge of SQL. Eventually you should have recruiters and employers contacting YOU asking if you're interested in the opportunities they are trying to fill.
Step 3 - Preparing for a technical interview
When you get those interviews booked, you'll no doubt have to face a technical assessment of your skills. This can be quite daunting so we show you the four or five main approaches to SQL interview assessments, and 'coach you ready' for anything that might get thrown at you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who are these programs aimed at?
Anyone who has ambitions to work in the field of data, and by 'data' I mean roles like data analysis, insight analysis, data science, data engineering, reporting, management information, business intelligence and loads more. Right at the very heart of all these careers is SQL.
Maybe you already have some SQL knowledge, or perhaps you have none at all. We help people who want to advance their SQL skills just as much as people who want to move into a career in SQL from something totally different.
How are these programs delivered?
A series of video tutorials, accessible via our website.
Weekly group coaching and mentoring sessions delivered via Zoom where you can bring any questions or queries to your SQL coach. You are welcome to join even if you don't have a specific question, and just be part of the community. These will be streamed on Facebook live meaning that you will be able to refer back to previous sessions.
You will also be able to have two or three one-to-one meetings with your coach as you move through the program (or more if you need them). The priority is making sure you get through the program, pick up the knowledge and get you to a place where you can use your skills to get ahead in your career.
How much does this cost?
This is a difficult one to answer because everything we do is bespoke, so until we speak to you, we don't yet know what your needs are and what will be appropriate for you, but I'm sure we'll be able to find a suitable offer for you based on your needs. You'll need to book a call, and this will really help you to see the situation you're in more clearly, and will help us learn more about you, and what is going to work best for you.
How do I enrol?
Well, this program isn't for everyone, so as much as we need to make sure it is the right choice for you, we also need to make sure you are the right choice for us. We're quite picky about who we work with, making sure it is a good fit, and that this relationship is going to work for the benefit of both parties.
So, you'll need to book a brief call with me in the first instance and we'll have a chat about you, your career and where you're heading, and if everyone's happy, we'll proceed.
What do you expect from your students?
Great question! I expect you to keep turning up, to engage with the program regularly (maybe two or three times per week), watching the videos, doing the challenges and exercises, attending the group coaching and mentoring sessions, and engaging with the community too.
Accountability is a key principle, and if you're holding yourself accountable to us and your fellow learners, as well as yourself, you are then far more likely to succeed.
And what can you (the student) expect from their SQL coach?
I'm going to teach you everything I have learned in twenty years working with SQL.
I'll even include the commands and programming techniques that I rarely use, because you need to know they exist and be able to understand them, but it's mainly about the everyday commands and techniques - HOW to use certain commands, WHEN to use them, the benefits and drawbacks of certain approaches.
I'll get you ready for a career in SQL. I can't provide the work experience, but with plenty of real-world examples, plus some anecdotes from my own experiences, you should be ready for anything.
One of the key features of the program is problem solving, because how you approach a specific challenge is such a huge part of what will make you successful, so that's a key element we will come back to time and time again.
You'll get direct access to me through the group sessions, and the one-to-one sessions as well, and after you've completed the program, you'll still be able to hit me up for help if you ever get stuck. No promises here but I'll do my best to support you for as long as you need me.
What if it doesn't work out?
We offer a full money back guarantee.
Our philosophy is this: people come to us for a result, whether it's to learn SQL from the start or to progress their existing SQL skills to an advanced level, and that aim is what we discuss when you book a call and sign up with us. That's why we don't just let you add programs to a shopping cart and check out on your own.
If you don't feel like you've got the result you set out to achieve, then we have no right to keep your money.
Part of our program involves regular check-ins with coaches to make sure you're hitting targets and keeping on task, and all this is to ensure that you DO reach that goal, but if we let you down, then you get your money back. Every penny of it.
What we expect of you is that you show up each week *, do the lessons, complete the challenges and let us know if you feel its not going as you had hoped.
This program is about YOU, not us. We will move heaven and earth to make sure you achieve the result you set out to achieve.
* Obviously there are going to be weeks when you can't make it. We're not going to hold this against you, we just want to make sure you're committed to the program and doing your best. We promise we will too!
